New Leadership for the COGNO network

We’re excited to welcome new leadership for the COGNO Network!

Please join us in welcoming Professor Hui Gan as COGNO Network Chair, and Dr Lucy Gately as Deputy Chair. Hui and Lucy have also joined the COGNO Ltd Board of Directors. We look forward to working alongside Hui and Lucy as they build on COGNO’s strong foundations and guide the Network’s next chapter. Here is what they have to say about COGNO under their leadership:

“We look forward to building on the momentum and success COGNO and the previous leadership has achieved to date in developing people, expertise and infrastructure in Australian neuro oncology. We have been given a great opportunity to build further on these strong foundations and achievements and translate this strong upward trajectory and scientific ambition into meaningful outcomes for patients.

Our focus will be on clinical trials to give brain cancer patients more treatment options; growing our organisational resources and capabilities, including the ability to directly sponsor trials; and strengthening our linkages with translational researchers. At the same time, we strive to foster a vibrant community for trials and research in Australia, including expanding and mentoring our ECRs and MCRs, creating opportunities for our members to take on leadership positions or develop novel concepts, and forging stronger partnerships with industry, philanthropy and government across the neuro-oncology community.”

We are also delighted to welcome Associate Professor Hao-Wen Sim to the COGNO Management Committee. Hao-Wen will serve as Acting Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) while a formal process to appoint the new SAC Chair and Deputy Chair is undertaken. We look forward to Hao-Wen’s contribution to both roles.

Thank you to Professor Eng-Siew Koh and Professor Rosemary Harrup for their incredible work over the last six years as Network Chair and Deputy Chair, respectively. Their leadership through a period of growth and change has helped build the strong foundations we carry forward, and we are deeply grateful for their dedication and contribution. Siew and Rosie will both continue to serve as Board Directors of COGNO Ltd.
